The State of the Body Pre-Experiment

I recently requested a copy of my medical files from my GP so I could add the information into my new MedFlash ID.  Even for me, I was a little surprised but the thickness of the file, but I shouldn’t have been, I suppose.  I’ve been seeing doctors and specialists ever since I can remember; some of my earliest memories are of hospitals and not just because my mother is a nurse.

I had a friend once suggest that the reason I was so sick might be because I had so many doctors.  Sometimes, these days, I think maybe she’s right.  I certainly have had my share of mystified specialists, misdiagnosed conditions, and frustrating mysterious aliments.   I think these sorts of  problems are only complicated by certain American healthcare systems which work like mall discount hair cut shops where you never see the same stylist twice.  I did that for a while in my younger days when I had to pay for my own health insurance.  Now I’m a huge fan of the good ole days when there was one pharmacist, one doctor, and one hair stylist who knows exactly what color my hair is if I ever need to go back to my real color.

Going through my current list of diagnoses, the current list of doctors and specialist think I have genetic Depressive Disorder,  genetic Anxiety Disorder, Seasonal Affective Disorder, Panic Disorder, Chronic Migraines (since I was in elementary school), GERD, gastoparesis, post-cholecystectomy (no more gall bladder), back and neck pain from multiple car accident, tinnitus accompanied with hearing loss (apparently not bad enough for a hearing aid, but enough for me to annoyingly ask everyone to repeat everything),  unconfirmed Irritable Bowel Syndrome, unconfirmed Fibromyalgia, and diagnosed via kidney biopsy in 2006 IgA Nephropathy presenting with hypertension, high SED rate, myaglia, fatigue, and hematuria.

A pescetarian is generally described as a lacto-ovo vegetarian who also eats seafood; this is not a true vegetarian diet, though, in my experience, many non-vegetarians mistakenly believe fish aren’t animals and assume vegetarians do eat seafood.

Gosh, when it’s all typed out like that, it looks like a lot, doesn’t it?  Now I understand why my GP feels bad for me whenever I mention some new ache or some old bothersome ache.  Though I don’t understand why she won’t give me a pain med that fits somewhere in between regular Tylenol (Take two 2x a day for the myalgia) and Oxycodone (use as needed for migraines)  – but I digress.

Anyway, the prognosis for my kidneys is currently good — I was put on a strict pescetarian diet supplemented with an ACE inhibitor.  The specialist says my kidneys are now stable and as long as I keep my creatine levels low and keep taking my medicine, I should be able to stave off the deterioration of my kidneys for “quite a while”.  Of course, I’m hoping to do more than just stall the progress.
